Once upon a time, I couldn't wait to be 18. Before I knew it, nearly three decades had passed. This is me, being me, with all that being me entails.

Remnants/Asylum from UPROAR... not by me, sadly

I've seen a lot of attempts from fans to film this, and this is the best one I've come across. Now if Disturbed would release one... have to be happy with this one though. Enjoy!

Break out of the Asylum!

An interactive game based on Disturbed's album, Asylum, will be released tomorrow (Oct. 28th).

I'm going to give it a try, though I'm not a big gamer.

Check it out here: disturbedasylum.com

By the way, I have pics from the concert I went to in Tulsa in September. I'll post those here when I get a chance.

Here's a preview:

This is me with Disturbed's bassist, John Moyer. Taken at the Tulsa Convention Center, Sept 8, 2010.

I just walked up to him and asked to take his picture. He was gracious enough to accomodate me. He's very nice, and is unlike your sterotypical rockstar. Maybe it's because he's a good Texas boy...

Asylum!!!

As I write this, Asylum has been out since August 31st, and, according to AllAccess.com, it's #1 going into the Labor Day weekend. It's on track to knock Katy Perry's Teenage Dream out of the top spot on the Hot 200!

I have three copies of it: the standard version that I bought the day of release, an iTunes copy, and the deluxe edition copy I pre ordered back in July that has yet to arrive (tomorrow, I hope!!).

And, the concert is on Wednesday!!!

I canNOT wait!!!

The shirt is cool...if only

it fit me!

I'm supposed to do something with this shirt when I give out Disturbed stuffs schwag at Uproar next month. The idea was for me to wear it...well as you can see by the pics that wearing it is out of the question...

The sleeves are too long on purpose. It's supposed to resemble a straightjacket. The album's called Asylum, after all!

This is the problem: the shirt is an XS, and I am not!

this is what's on the back of the shirt.

Check out my funky straightjacket shirt I can't wear and my equally, yet differently, funky shower curtain!

I was going to post something from YouTube

But it might be a little TOO over the top for some people, the parental advisory not withstanding. It is a lot to take in, and definitely not for the faint of heart.

However...

If you want to watch it, here's the link to it. It's Disturbed's "Asylum" video.

I was trying to find the first night of the Uproar festival where the band played "Remnants" for the first time (it's the intro to "Asylum" that's not in the video listed above), but I don't have time right now.

Horns up!

More Disturbed street team stuff

More stuff to pass out to concertgoers Saturday night at the Mayhem festival at the Zoo Amp...I love the hospital psych ward bracelets! And the stickers are shown front and back.

There's even a web addy on them: http://disturbedasylum.com ...but it doesn't seem to want to work for me right now...

Sigh.

Maybe as the release date gets closer, it'll be online without having send your computers credentials...

I'm out...

300 books of matches...

I got these via UPS the other day. This is part of the materials I'll be passing out after the Mayhem fest at the Zoo Amp on August 14 to promote Disturbed's new release. I'm supposed to get other things, too, like hospital bracelets (the album's called "Asylum" after all) and poster cards with the album art on it.

I probably should have said 299 books of matches, because I gave my mom a book of 'em.

This is my first street team experience, so we'll see how this goes.

Wanna book of matches? LOL

Now THAT was different!

The other day, Chaz came over and we went to haunt garage sales. That's his new passion to get crap he really doesn't need. But this time, he got me something--

A bed.

Now, I know what you're probably thinking...that he's lookin for some action, but that's not it.

I've been without a proper bed for quite some time, and Chaz wanted me to be able to get some REAL sleep. So at one yard sale, the people holding it were selling a practically new full size bed for a ridiculous price. So Chaz got his wallet out and paid cash for it!

And it's a complete bed-- mattress, box springs and frame.

Thing is, I only have queen size sheets, because the last bed I had was queen size. But I made it work temporarily until I could get some proper full size sheets. Probably when I get some money next month.

I thought that was nice of him to think of me. Now I probably owe him LOL. No, NOT that!

(Get yer heads outta da gutter!)

Until next time--

If I could direct you to my other blog for a moment...

I just posted a little thing about Disturbed's second single, the title track "Asylum".

There are two YouTube videos there. The first one is the song itself (NOT the official video, that won't be out for a bit yet); the second is lead vocalist David Draiman explaining the meaning of the song, and the duality of the word "asylum".

The song "Asylum" isn't due out until next Tuesday (7/20), but I now have it on my phone because I got a free download from Disturbed's official website.

The singles are nice, but dammit! I want the whole freakin' album! August 31st couldn't get here soon enough!

Since the last post...

Incredible stuff has happened that I thought I'd share...

First and foremost: I'm finally out of my old apartment! I turned in the keys on June 29th, and spent most of the time since then unpacking stuff... and unfortunately, having nowhere to put it. I have no drawers in either my kitchen or bathroom, so extra stuff is getting thrown out by the trashbagfulls.

Secondly, more stuff on my favorite band's new album has been revealed, like the album art. Check this bad boy out:

This is Disturbed's mascot, "The Guy", and this is his third appearance on the cover of an album. The artwork was done by Raymond Swanland. The album will drop (be released) on August 31st.

And, of course, there was the 4th of July--- the rainy 4th of July. It cleared up in time to see the fireworks from UCO... from the parking lot of my apartment complex! I love living two blocks from campus!

Now, it's July and I have stuff I need to accomplish... like making sure my oldest son gets enrolled for the fall semester before all the good classes he needs are gone!

*sigh*

I'm thinking Arby's!

And I figured as long as it wasn't raining, or blistering hot, or too late, what the hell!

Jamocha shakes rule! LOL

It's not nice to imply that God swears...

On Friday, when I had all the boys except Marc (who was still at camp) over to help me move the rest of my stuff, we were just sitting around, talking about anything and everything that came to mind, when Daniel said something that caused me to remark, “God probably looks down here and thinks, ‘WTF!’” (except I said the entire phrase).

Next thing I hear is Jeff exclaiming, “BLASPHEMY!”

Scott said I’d have to confess that. “Confess what?” I asked.

“That you implied that God swears.”

“Oh, come on,” I said, “What am I going to say in the confessional, Scott? ‘Bless me Father for I have sinned; it’s been 30 years since my last confession’…?”

Jeff said, “Yeah, that’s a good start.” To which Scott said, “YOU HAVEN’T BEEN TO CONFESSION IN 30 YEARS?!”

“Oh,” I said, “Do I need to confess that too? And what kind of penance do you think I’d get?”

Jeff started out with “1500 Hail Marys, 1000 Acts of Contrition, 2000 Our Fathers…”

“My tongue would fall out first if I did that!” I said.

“Oh, and bring me your tongue as proof you did all of that!” Jeff said. Then he mimed handing over his tongue and started making vocalizations that sounded like someone who had lost their tongue.

And, I abso-fucking-lutely lost it!

I was laughing so hard I was holding my breath (“Breathe, Mom!”), my eyes were watering, and I had to flee to the bathroom because I suddenly had to pee! And I laughed hysterically while I was in the bathroom, too!

The thing that got me, even today, is that Jeff could still do that and get me started on a major giggle fit.

It’s not nice to imply God is human!

Evaluate "Blogging for Journalists" Summer 2010

1. How would you improve this class?
The only thing I can think of is to have a daily topic to blog about. After that assignment is completed, then students can blog about anything else they choose.

2. What was the most valuable part of the class for you?
Learning that something that I've been doing for seven years could actually help me in a future career in communications!

3. What was the least valuable part of the class for you?
Though it's nice that we're able to post videos and music on our blogs, that, too, should have some kind of daily theme.

4. Would a book (Google Blogger for Dummies) help?
It couldn't hurt. I'm actually considering buying it some time in the near future.

All in all, I really enjoyed this class! I hope that I can keep up this blog now that the class is ending and use what I've learned in other pursuits on my way to that sheepskin!
